With the month of being “thankful” wrapping up and the holidays right around the corner, it’s a great time to reflect on the many accomplishments of our agency this year.
Marion County Board of DD has managed to maintain our pledge to those we serve. Not only do we ensure health and safety, but we also provide the tools and resources necessary for a good life. That only happens with dedication, perseverance, and a love for those served. We may not have a new financial commitment from our community in the way of a passed levy, but we have heart – lots of it – and that is what is getting us through.
We make the time to listen to those we serve, their families and their guardians to creatively solve problems, break down barriers, and provide inclusive opportunities in our community.
Life is about making the most of it. It’s about experiences and new adventures. All people in our community should have the opportunity to explore experiences and adventures, to live fully – despite a diagnosis that may challenge one’s ability to do so.
Living. Not just being. That is always the goal for all of us.
One thing is certain. Each and every one of you has the fight, the dedication, and the heart to be sure those we serve truly live.
For that, I am thankful.
