Service and Support Administrators assist in developing person-centered plans. These plans help individuals with disabilities figure out what is important to them, in order to improve the quality of their lives. Person-centered plans provide details about the supports that are wanted and needed, who will provide the supports, and when the supports will be provided and at what cost.

Marion County DD follows 7 Guiding Principles to ensure individuals with developmental disabilities live person-centered lives.

  • You are in charge of your life.
  • You can buy what you want with the money you have.
  • You are responsible for your decisions.
  • You can get a job to help pay for the things you need and want.
  • You can get help from other places besides MARCA.
  • We will not waste your time, but only work on things that are important to you.
  • You can live with who you want and where you want if you have the money.

If you know of an individual with mental retardation or a developmental disability that could benefit from the services offered by Marion County DD, here are the steps to follow.

  • Call the Community Services Department 740-375-6134. An Intake Coordinator will ask for some basic information about the individual with a developmental disability.
  • The Intake Coordinator will arrange a meeting to talk with the individual, the family and/or the individualĂ•s representative.
  • The Intake Coordinator uses the information gathered and a personal interview to determine if the individual is eligible for services.
  • If the individual qualifies for services, they will receive a Service & Support Administrator.
  • A person-centered plan and individual budget will be created. The Service & Support Administrator will be able to provide the individual with community resources, including those supplied by Marion DD.
