The Marion Community Aktion Club is a service-oriented organization comprised of individuals with disabilities. Aktion Clubs can be found throughout the country and are supported by Kiwanis International.

Our Aktion Club was chartered on Jan. 28, 2008 and is co-sponsored by the Marion Noon Kiwanis Club and the Town and Country Kiwanis Club.

The club meets once a month at the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce and has more than 30 active members. Requirements for individuals with disabilities desiring to participate in the club are:

  • Must have the ability to participate in club activities;
  • Can benefit from participating in club activities; and
  • Has the potential to grow as a member of the club.

Andy Wheeler, the Social and Recreation Specialist at Marion DD, is serving as the club’s advisor. Recent projects undertaken by the Marion Community Aktion Club include:

  • A Trash pick-up on McKinley and Bigford parks;
  • Donated food to the food pantry and Turning Point;
  • Sponsored a Thanksgiving dinner for a local family;
  • Went Christmas caroling at the Community Health Nursing Home;
  • Make Valentines for Sterling House; and
  • Donated pet supplies to the Humane Society.
